Library Card
Any Iowan can apply for a library card at any of the over 500 public libraries in the state, including, of course, the Merrill Public Library. A library card in good standing entitles you to borrow materials from the library’s collection, including books, DVDs, audiobooks, magazines, and more. If you live in Merrill, Hinton, Brunsville, Craig, and the Plymouth County rural addresses nearby, your tax dollars support the Merrill Public Library, which also gives you free access to Iowa’s Overdrive electronic resources. Overdrive has over 150,000 eBooks and audiobooks. Iowa’s Overdrive program is called “Bridges,” and can be accessed through the free “Libby” app for your phone or other device.
Children are eligible for a library card with a parent or legal guardian’s approval and signature. A child’s library account is linked to their parent's until the age of 18. Responsibility for a child’s selection and return of materials and any fines or charges accrued on the child's card is held by the parent or guardian of the child.
